In a major crackdown on Left-Wing Extremism, security forces killed 31 Naxalites during an encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Sunday. The operation took place in the dense forests of Indravati National Park. A joint team of security personnel launched the mission early in the morning.
Security Forces Conduct Anti-Naxalite Operation
After receiving intelligence about Naxalites in the area, security forces planned an operation to eliminate them. A joint team, including the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Special Task Force (STF), moved in to take action.
When the security personnel confronted the Naxalites, a fierce gunfight erupted. The battle lasted for several hours, resulting in the elimination of 31 Naxalites. Security forces also seized a large cache of weapons and explosives from the site.

Two Security Personnel Martyred
During the encounter, two security personnel lost their lives. One belonged to the DRG, while the other was from the STF. Two more jawans sustained injuries. Authorities immediately airlifted them to a medical facility, and they are now in stable condition.
Reinforcements Strengthen Search Operations
Authorities dispatched additional reinforcements to the area to support ongoing operations. Security forces continue their search for any remaining Naxalites.
Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, Sundarraj P confirmed the incident and praised the security forces for their bravery.
Major Blow to Naxalite Activities
This operation raises the number of Naxalites killed in Chhattisgarh this year to 81. Security forces have eliminated 65 Naxalites in the Bastar division alone, which includes seven districts, including Bijapur.
Last year, security forces neutralized 219 Naxalites in separate operations across the state. The government has intensified its efforts to weaken Naxalite influence in the region.
Government Commends Security Forces
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai praised the security forces for their dedication. He noted that in the past 13 months, security forces have killed 282 Naxalites, arrested 1,033, and secured the surrender of 925 others.
Authorities remain committed to eliminating Naxalite activities and restoring peace in the region.
