A major accident was reported early Friday morning near Bodwad Railway Station in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district. A speeding truck crashed into the Mumbai-Amravati Express at around 4:30 AM. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and a major disaster was averted.
Truck Breaks Barrier, Gets Stuck on Tracks
The accident occurred when a truck carrying wheat tried to cross the railway tracks through an unauthorized route. The truck broke through an old level-crossing barrier, despite the crossing being replaced with a Railway Over Bridge (ROB). The driver lost control, and the vehicle got stuck on the tracks. He managed to exit the truck and was seeking help when the train collided with it.

The collision caused significant damage to railway infrastructure, including overhead electric wires. Train services on both up and down routes were blocked, affecting multiple trains. The Mumbai-Howrah route also faced delays. The loco pilot spotted the truck in time and slowed the train, preventing a severe accident.
Emergency Response and Restoration Efforts
Officials from the railways, local police, Government Railway Police (GRP), and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) rushed to the spot. A gas cutter and an earthmover were used to remove the truck, which had become entangled with the train’s engine. The track was cleared around 10:20 AM, and services were restored by 8:50 AM.
Investigation Underway
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. The police are also searching for the truck driver, who fled the scene. Officials are looking into the ownership of the truck and why it attempted to cross the tracks illegally.
Passengers Safe, But Rail Infrastructure Damaged
Despite the collision, no passengers or railway staff were harmed. However, the impact damaged railway infrastructure and disrupted travel plans for many. The railway department has assured passengers that temporary arrangements were made, and disaster management teams worked swiftly to resume normal operations.
