It’s hard to believe Shefali Jariwala, the vibrant actress and model, is no longer with us. She passed away at 42 on Friday, June 27, 2025, in Mumbai. Known for rocking the “Kaanta Laga” music video, Shefali stole hearts with her energy and charm. Her sudden loss has left fans and loved ones heartbroken. Let’s celebrate her life, her courage, and the joy she brought to so many.

A Bright Star in the Spotlight

Shefali Jariwala became a household name at just 19 with the 2002 hit music video “Kaanta Laga.” The song, performed by DJ Doll, took the nation by storm, earning her the nickname “Kaanta Laga Girl.” Her charm and dance moves made her an overnight sensation. In 2003, a radio poll listed her as a “breakout star” alongside Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, and Shahid Kapoor. Everyone expected her to dominate Bollywood. However, Shefali chose a different path, staying selective about her projects.

She appeared in the hit Bollywood film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi alongside Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. Additionally, she graced reality shows like Boogie Woogie, Nach Baliye 5, and Nach Baliye 7 with her husband, Parag Tyagi. Later, she joined Bigg Boss 13, where her past relationship with contestant Sidharth Shukla sparked attention. Despite her fame, Shefali remained grounded and private.

A Brave Battle with Epilepsy

Behind her radiant smile, Shefali faced a personal struggle. At 15, she was diagnosed with epilepsy, a condition that caused seizures. In a heartfelt 2020 interview with The Times of India, she shared how stress from studies triggered her first seizure. “I had seizures in classrooms, backstage, and on roads,” she said. These moments chipped away at her confidence. For 15 years, epilepsy limited her ability to take on more work. “I didn’t know when my next seizure would strike,” she explained.

Yet, Shefali’s spirit never wavered. She overcame her challenges through natural healing and a strong support system. Remarkably, she remained seizure-free for nine years before her passing. “I managed my depression and anxiety naturally,” she proudly shared. Her courage inspired many who face similar battles.

A Tragic Loss

On Friday, Shefali reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest at her home in Mumbai’s Andheri area. Her husband, Parag Tyagi, rushed her to Bellevue Multispecialty Hospital, accompanied by three others. Sadly, doctors declared her dead on arrival. Mumbai Police received the news at 1 a.m. and sent her body to Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem examination. While cardiac arrest is suspected, the exact cause of death awaits confirmation.

Parag Tyagi, a well-known actor from Pavitra Rishta, A Wednesday, Phhir, and Sarkaru Vaari Paata, has not yet shared an official statement. The couple, married since August 2014 after dating for four years, was inseparable. They charmed audiences together on Nach Baliye. Shefali’s first marriage to musician Harmeet Singh of Meet Brothers, known for hits like “Baby Doll” and “Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan,” ended in 2009.
