22 Naxals Killed

Welcome to theustales.com.

In a major offensive against Naxal insurgents, security forces killed at least 22 members of the banned CPI (Maoist) in two encounters in Chhattisgarh. The operations took place in Bijapur and Kanker districts as part of an anti-Naxalite drive.

Encounters in Bijapur and Kanker

Security forces launched an operation in a forested area along the Bijapur-Dantewada border in the Bastar division. The gunfight started early in the morning and led to the death of 18 Naxalites. In a separate encounter in Koroskodo village, Kanker district, security forces killed four more insurgents.

A police jawan from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) lost his life in the Bijapur operation. He was part of a joint team comprising BSF and DRG personnel. The forces recovered a large cache of firearms and explosives from the encounter sites. The search operation is still ongoing.

Increase in Anti-Naxal Operations

These encounters mark a significant strike against Naxal activities in Chhattisgarh. Last month, security forces killed 31 Naxalites in an operation in Bijapur’s Indravati National Park. In February, security forces arrested 18 Naxalites and recovered explosives in separate raids across Bijapur.

Authorities say that security forces have heightened their crackdown in Naxal-affected areas. At least 81 Naxalites have been killed in the state since the beginning of the year. In 2023, forces neutralized 219 insurgents and arrested 150.

Tactical Counter Offensive Campaign (TCOC) and Its Impact

Naxalites conduct their annual Tactical Counter Offensive Campaign (TCOC) between March and June. They use this period to launch attacks on security forces and damage infrastructure. However, due to increased security measures, major attacks during TCOC in 2023 and 2024 were prevented.

Government’s Efforts to End Naxalism

Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the security forces for their success. He reaffirmed the government’s goal of making India Naxal-free by March 31, 2026. The government follows a zero-tolerance policy against insurgents who refuse to surrender.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss development plans for Bastar. The government aims to transform Naxal-affected areas by improving infrastructure, industries, and tourism.

The recent encounters highlight the government’s intensified efforts to eliminate Naxalism. Security forces remain on high alert as operations continue. With stronger countermeasures, authorities hope to bring lasting peace to the region.
