A shocking crime has shaken Pune. A 26-year-old woman was raped in a stationary Shivshahi bus at Pune’s Swargate bus depot. The incident happened early in the morning while she was waiting for a bus to go home.

The crime took place at around 5 AM on February 25 at the Pune’s Swargate bus depot. The victim was traveling to Phaltan, around 100 km from Pune. A man approached her and claimed that the Phaltan bus was parked elsewhere. He tricked her into boarding a Shivshahi bus and followed her inside. Once inside, he locked the door and assaulted her.
After the attack, the victim initially left the bus stand but later returned. She filed a complaint at Swargate Police Station at around 9:30 AM.

Police Investigation
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Smartana Patil confirmed the incident. The police immediately reviewed CCTV footage from the Pune’s Swargate depot. The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Dattatray Ramdas Gade. He has a criminal record and was out on bail at the time of the attack. Two cases of robbery are already registered against him in Pune rural police jurisdiction.
Authorities have formed eight special teams to track him down. Police are using call records and location data to trace his movements. Investigators are also checking if he had any accomplices.
