Introduction:

 

Released in 2009, The International is an crime-action thriller film. The actual inspiration for the film came from the 1980s scandal of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI). On 5 February 2009 the film started the 59th Berlin International Film Festival. The majority of Rotten Tomatoes reviewers gave the action scenes and settings high marks.

This movie tells the story of an investigation into a powerful and corrupt international bank the International Bank of Business and Credit (IBBC).

The film primarily revolves around Louis Salinger, a determined Interpol agent and Eleanor Whitman, a Manhattan assistant district attorney, and their investigation into the corrupt activities of a powerful international bank known as the International Bank of Business and Credit (IBBC).

Plot & Storyline:

 

The film begins with Salinger observes his partner, Thomas Schumer, meeting with André Clement. After the meeting, Schumer walks to the road, signals to Salinger on the opposite side, but then suddenly clutches his arm, vomits and collapses on the ground and dies in the street. Salinger rushes to him but is injured by a passing van.

Following a trail of evidence that leads them from Berlin to Milan to New York and beyond, Louis and Eleanor launch a global investigation to learn the truth about the IBBC’s operations. Along the way, they face challenges and danger as influential forces within the bank try to thwart their investigation.

The film explores themes of financial corruption, global conspiracies, and the influence of powerful financial institutions on international politics.

Star Performer:

 

Clive Owen’s portrayal of Interpol agent Louis Salinger was undoubtedly the star performer of the film.
