Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly is facing serious allegations of rape. A woman from Ernakulam district filed a complaint accusing Pauly of sexually assaulting her in a Dubai hotel last year. She claims the assault happened after Pauly promised her a role in a film. Along with Pauly, five others, including producer AK Sunil, have been named in the complaint.

Nivin Pauly’s Response

Pauly strongly denies the allegations. He addressed the issue on Instagram, calling the claims “entirely untrue.” Pauly assured his followers that he would take all necessary legal steps to clear his name. “I’m determined to go to any extent to prove these allegations are baseless and will take all necessary steps to bring those responsible to light,” he stated.

In an emergency press conference, Pauly reiterated his innocence. He said he did not know the woman who accused him and emphasized that the allegations were affecting his family. “I am 100% sure that I am not at fault. I will fight this case according to the law and will go to any extent to prove the truth,” Pauly asserted.

Details of the Complaint

The woman who filed the complaint said that Pauly and the other accused lured her to Dubai in November 2023 with a promise of a film role. She alleged that they sexually assaulted her in a hotel room. She filed the complaint with Ernakulam Rural Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Saxena.

The police have registered the case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including section 376 for rape. They have assigned the investigation to a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The SIT was established following the Justice Hema Committee report, which exposed widespread sexual misconduct in the Malayalam film industry.

Wider Impact on the Malayalam Film Industry

The allegations against Pauly are part of a larger wave of complaints within the Malayalam film industry. The release of the Hema Committee report has led to multiple legal actions against industry veterans. Prominent figures like CPI(M) MLA Mukesh, actors Jayasurya, Baburaj, and Siddique, and director Ranjith have all faced similar accusations.

In Pauly’s case, police sources revealed that the complainant initially met the first accused, Sreya, who offered her a job in Europe. When the job didn’t materialize, Sreya allegedly promised her a film role instead. The complainant claims she was drugged and assaulted by the six accused, including Pauly, during her stay in Dubai.

Ongoing Investigation

The Kerala police have confirmed that they have registered a case against Nivin Pauly, AK Sunil, and four others. The SIT will thoroughly investigate the case and determine the truth behind these allegations.

Nivin Pauly has starred in several successful films, including Premam, Bangalore Days, and Moothon. However, these serious allegations have cast a shadow over his career and the Malayalam film industry as a whole.

Pauly maintains that he is innocent and is committed to clearing his name through legal means. The investigation will reveal the next steps in this high-profile case.
