IPL 2025: Full Schedule, Teams, Venues, and Format

The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to begin on March 22. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the schedule for the 18th edition of the world’s most popular T20 cricket league.

This season will follow the same format as last year. A total of 10 teams will compete for the championship. The tournament will start with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) playing against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Each team will play 14 matches in the league stage. The top four teams in the standings will qualify for the playoffs. The first qualifier winner will advance directly to the final. The eliminator and second qualifier will determine the second finalist.

IPL 2025 Teams and Groups

Group A:

• Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
• Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)
• Rajasthan Royals (RR)
• Punjab Kings (PBKS)
• Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

Group B:

• Mumbai Indians (MI)
• Gujarat Titans (GT)

Each team will play against the other four teams in its group twice. They will also play one designated team from the opposite group twice, while playing against the remaining four teams once.

Knockout Stage

• Qualifier 1 (May 20, 2025) – Top two teams play in Hyderabad. The winner qualifies for the final.
• Eliminator 1 (May 21, 2025) – Teams finishing third and fourth play in Mumbai. The loser is eliminated.
• Qualifier 2 (May 23, 2025) – The winner of Eliminator 1 faces the loser of Qualifier 1 in Ahmedabad. The winner moves to the final.
• Final (May 25, 2025) – The two remaining teams compete in Kolkata for the IPL trophy.

IPL 2025: What’s New?

• The tournament will have the same 10-team format as last season.
• Matches will be played across different cities, with major games in Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad.
• The final will be hosted at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on May 25, 2025.
