Dragon Glimpse Review: Jr NTR Transformed Into a Chilling Villain!

I watched the newly released glimpse of Dragon while traveling in Local to the office today. As a massive fan of the Man of Masses, my jaw dropped completely. This 4 minute and 28 second video is an absolute masterpiece of tension and style. while the dusty, desaturated, ash-heavy frames give off massive Salaar or KGF vibes, the historic setting of the 1967 international drug route effectively carves out a brand-new identity for Dragon. Director Prashanth Neel and Jr NTR, have created something incredibly dark. If you think this is a standard heroic story, you are in for a massive shock.

The Brutal History Lesson That Ignites the Screen

The glimpse does not rush to show the actors or deliver quick punchlines. Instead, it starts with a gripping historical lesson about pre-independence India. The video explains that when the Britishers packed their bags and left the country, they left behind a highly lucrative and deadly opium industry.

This multi-million dollar illegal empire does not stay peaceful for long. It quickly gets split into two massive warring factions. One is the Afghan Trading Company, and the other is the Golden Trading Company. This setup is brilliant because it establishes the dark theme instantly. By starting with the raw, historical context of a massive drug war, the director makes the entire universe feel incredibly dangerous before the characters even speak.

Rukmini Vasanth’s Entry and the Relentless BGM

Right after this grand historical opening, Rukmini Vasanth comes into the frame. She takes over as the narrator, guiding the audience deeper into this chaotic world of crime. Her calm, smooth voice provides a chilling contrast to the heavy violence shown on the screen. She explains the dangerous playground that India became in 1967.

While her voiceovers guide your mind, the music by Ravi Basrur takes absolute control of your heartbeat. The background score plays continuously through the entire 4 minutes and 28 seconds without a single break. It starts as a low, haunting hum during the history lesson. Suddenly, it transforms into a heavy, thumping rhythm as the action begins. Basrur uses deep drums and dark orchestration to build continuous tension. By the time the teaser ends, the music leaves your ears ringing and your adrenaline pumping.

The True Mastery of Prashanth Neel’s World

We all know that Prashanth Neel is a genius when it comes to creating dark, gritty worlds. We saw it in KGF and we saw it in Salaar. However, with Dragon, his world-building has reached a completely different level of maturity. He moves away from fictitious coal mines and enters a real, historic international crime ring.

The color palette is classic Neel – dusty, sepia-toned, and heavily desaturated. Every frame looks like it is covered in ash, smoke, and sweat. The industrial landscapes and vast desert fields look grand and cinematic. He introduces multiple factions and secondary characters with ease. You can clearly see that Neel has spent a long time cooking this script. He gives the audience a massive, complex playground where survival is the only law.

Jr NTR is Not the Hero, He is the Nightmare

Now, let us talk about the man himself – the Man of Masses, Jr NTR. When his frame finally appears, it completely shatters your mind. He does not look like a savior or a righteous hero at all. He looks like a terrifying, cold-blooded villain. Playing the character of Luger, the Assassin-in-Chief for the Afghan cartel, his look radiates pure evil.

He stands tall on a literal mountain of dead bodies with a thick beard and wild, menacing eyes. He fires heavy weapons with a chilling calmness on his face. This is exactly what the dark story required. NTR has completely shed his regular commercial image to play a monster. He is not here to save people; he is here to run an illegal empire. His screen presence is absolutely ferocious and will give every single fan goosebumps.

As a die-hard Tarak fan, you know the absolute peak of the glimpse is his chilling, heavy-voiced Telugu/Hindi dialogue delivery at the end. Slip a mention of that line right into the “Jr NTR is Not the Hero” section to give fans goosebumps.

Add a sentence like: “When he drops that ruthless line about his enemies appearing in his dreams because he forgets them the moment he pulls the trigger, you realize this character is pure darkness.”

Anil Kapoor: The Unexpected Symbol of Justice

The final, brilliant twist of the glimpse comes with the entry of the legendary Anil Kapoor. In a fascinating turn of events, Anil Kapoor holds the character of the true hero here. He plays Raghuveer Rathod, the Chief of India’s Narcotics Bureau. He is the righteous government force standing against the dark world of Luger.

The dynamic is beautifully flipped. You have a massive superstar playing a terrifying criminal, and a senior legend playing the savior of law. This face-off creates an incredible conflict for the audience. The contrast between NTR’s savage violence and Anil Kapoor’s sharp, authoritative presence is perfect. It guarantees a heavy, performance-driven clash that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Dragon has officially set the stage for an epic cinematic war in 2027!
