Plot & Storyline:

The film begins with the three decades after the events of the first Blade Runner film, in the year 2049, replicants continue to rule the planet. Blade runners, police entrusted with “retiring” rogue replicants, track out these replicants.

K (Ryan Gosling), a replicant of Nexus-9, is one of these blade runners; his serial number is KD6-3.7. He is employed with the LAPD, the Los Angeles Police Department.

K finds the bones of a female replicant who died giving birth in a hidden box while on a mission to retire Sapper Morton, a rogue replicant. This calls into question the idea that replicants are incapable of biological reproduction.

K’s superior, Joshi gives K the order to locate and put the replicant infant away. This sets off K on a dangerous mission to learn the truth about the child’s origins and the implications for replicants and humans alike.

So –

  • “In what ways does K’s finding of the buried replicant remnants contradict the conventional wisdom regarding replicants?”
  • “Why does Lieutenant Joshi give K the order to locate and destroy the replicant child?”
