Devotees Fill Ayodhya with Joy

Lakhs of devotees poured into Ayodhya, many taking a holy dip in the Saryu River before praying. “It was crowded and hot, but I’m thrilled to be here,” one devotee shared happily. On Monday night, the temple sparkled with colorful lights, setting a festive mood. On Monday night, a sacred Kalash Yatra brought together saints, acharyas, and innumerable followers as it travelled through Veena Chowk and Ram Path, beginning at the Saryu River.

Rituals Continue with Devotion

Today, June 4, priests are starting the day with prayers to Lord Ganesha and other deities in the mandap. The Yajna Shala, with nine Yajna Kundas, has eight priests chanting texts and eight others performing Jaap. Anil Mishra, a member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, hosts the three-day rituals. Tomorrow, June 5, the main consecration begins at 11:25 AM, followed by pujan, bhog, and aarti, ending by 1:00 PM.

Chief Minister to Join the Festivities

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, will be present for the Saryu Jayanti Janmotsav and main consecration tomorrow, June 5. From June 5 to June 11, the Anjaneya Sewa Trust is hosting a week-long celebration that will include spiritual discussions and devotional activities. He will also participate in a World Environment Day event and the birthday celebrations of Trust President Mahant Nritya Gopal Das.

Keeping Ayodhya Safe and Welcoming

Ayodhya is under tight security to ensure a smooth event. Anti-Terrorism Squad commandos and armoured vehicles guard the temple complex, marked as a red zone. Surveillance operates 24/7 in three shifts. The Ayodhya police are verifying tenants in sensitive areas, with six teams checking 150 homes so far. There are emergency hospital beds, drinking water, and shaded areas for devotees.

A Note for Visitors

Champat Rai, the trust secretary, urged people not to visit Ayodhya based solely on news reports, as they have not issued any public invitations for June 3 to 5. While devotees can continue to have darshan of Ram Lalla, the trust has kept the first-floor Ram Darbar and nearby temples closed to the public since construction is still ongoing. The trust is considering allowing limited access—possibly 50 devotees per hour with passes—but they have not made a final decision yet.
